Hawaii Map
Hawaii is a culmination of eight islands with number of islets of rocks and reefs in North Pacific Ocean, which is quite a part of USA although it is far away. It is dominated with heritage, a unique mixture of Asian and Polynesian. Although people there are very much like every other; Hawaii still is quite apart the other states.
It carpets an area of 2,600 kilometers that equals to 1,600 miles. Except for Midway Island, all the other islands form a part of Hawaii, the State. The area covered by Hawaii is 10,932 square miles, which includes 4,508 square miles covered by water, 43rd position as the largest State.
Interestingly, Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, happens to be the largest city in Hawaii while lying around 2,400 miles in southwest of San Francisco and California and about 2.700 miles of south of Seward of Alaska.
Ranking as the highest among the mountains that ranges on earth, it is a land made from volcanic action from beneath the Pacific Ocean, continuing since millions of years.
Hawaii, the largest island, in the State, is believed to be growing even now, whereas the other islands have abated growth, while slowly eroding away. There are still many more islets much older in the northwest of Kauai. Repeated erosions have reduced them near invisibility in the Pacific region. The volcanoes that erupt frequently are Mauna Loa and Kilauea. These two put together form Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Haleakala, on Maui, the biggest volcanic crater, is in the center of Haleakala National Park. While Koolau and Waianae run along the island of Oahu, it is the hardened lava of Hawaii that is prominent and widespread.
Other than Hawaii, it is Oahu, Molokai and Kauai that are large and also the highest islands. They receive enough rainfalls and are covered by canyons, deep river valleys with gorges. But in leeward sides of islands, it is dry and barren.
The shores are lined with colored sands that are white and black in colors, a part of the colorful beauty of Hawaii. The beaches are palm lined with coral reefs, cliffs that are cut due to high waves and rocky coasts.
The geography of Hawaii shows how kind Mother Nature has been to provide the state of Hawaii with great beauty. With water and land, forming a beautiful landscape, it truly is a State quite apart in USA.
